Lactic acid bacteria from a plant-based medium
influence the composition of the human microflora by improving its balance. On entering the intestinal cavity, they settle on its mucous membrane and multiply. In the course of their vital activity they secrete substances that are beneficial to digestion. There is growing evidence that lactic acid bacteria regulate the immune system responses associated with the intestinal mucosa. They stimulate the production of antibodies that allow the body to recognise foreign agents: viruses, bacteria, harmful particles. Experiments on animals have established that lactic acid bacteria reduce toxins in the rectum, i.e. they can slow down and even prevent disease processes that lead to the formation of malignant growths.
Inulin
is a fibre that is not absorbed by the digestive system but is fermented by the intestinal flora and, broadly speaking, is used to feed the beneficial bacteria in it.
